Hours of Work: 18 hours per week (hours to be arranged to include evening and weekend work as necessary)
Salary Scale: £21,519 per annum pro rata for part time
Purpose of the post
· To deliver healthy relationship and domestic abuse awareness packages within schools/agencies to educate young people and enable them to make informed choices.
· To deliver group work to children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
· To deliver the Hands are not for hurting programme.
· To provide individual and family support packages for children & young people, ensuring that they have opportunities to work through their experiences of living with and leaving domestic abuse and that they and their female carer have access to services in the community which will promote children’s health and development, educational attendance and attainment, participation in social and leisure opportunities and diverting children from crime.
Ways of Working
The organisation is managed by a linear management structure comprising of the Head of Services, five service Coordinators and 7 team leaders, Paid and unpaid workers are consulted on service and organisational development and delivery of services. All workers bring their own individual skills and are all valued equally.
Duties specific to the post:
· To work within schools and partner agencies delivering a programme of work to educate young people on healthy relationships and domestic abuse enabling them to make informed choices within their own relationships.
· To deliver group work to women, children and young people to work through issues of domestic abuse, empowering them to effect change in their lives, to build relationships within the family unit, to manage feelings and emotions and to reduce feelings of isolation.
· To work individually with children and young people enabling them to work through their experiences of domestic abuse and develop strategies for coping with negative feelings and experiences, including personal safety plans
· To support children and young people in recognising the choices they have within their situation and to voice their wishes and opinions in order to ensure that, services are led by the children and young people they are intended to support
· To liaise and advocate on behalf of children and young people with other agencies in order to coordinate support services in the community and ensure access to health, educational, social and leisure opportunities
· To accompany children, young people and women to relevant appointments/social and leisure opportunities when necessary in line with Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Limited policies and procedures
· To work with the Children’s Services Team in order to develop ways of involving children, young people and their female carers in developing, delivering and evaluating children’s services
· To advocate on behalf of children to ensure their experiences of domestic abuse are recognised and understood by their female carer, other professionals and other significant contacts within their network of support
· To compile reports, assessments and records and attend meetings for child protection purposes in line with Notts WA child protection policy and procedures
· To support female carers in understanding and coping with their children’s feelings and experiences of domestic abuse
· To provide parenting information and signposting to female carers who are experiencing problems in their relationships with their children
· To provide telephone support, information and signposting where necessary to children, young people and their female carer
· In conjunction with the Children’s Services Team, organise and facilitate groups, therapeutic work, educational workshops, events, information sessions, drop ins etc for children, young people and their female carer on issues around children and domestic abuse, parenting and issues which affect young people
· To attend and participate in team and project meetings as required.
· To identify and access training opportunities as agreed by the relevant service coordinator.
· To provide a basic level of cover for annual leave and sickness for children’s workers across projects, where necessary.
· To maintain accurate recording systems including monitoring and evaluation and ensure they are passed to relevant person for collation and distribution.
· To work as part of Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Limited Children’s Services Team in order to develop services, build relationships across projects and consult with children, young people and their female carer to ensure children remain central to the services provided for them.
· To participate in the development and review of Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Ltd policies and procedures.
· To take part in annual service reviews.
· To ensure safeguarding and Child Protection procedures are followed at all times.
· To maintain health and safety procedures to ensure a safe environment.
· To apply Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Ltd equality & diversity policy in all aspects of work.
· To ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to.
· To take all possible steps to ensure the safety and confidentiality of the users and employees of the organisation.

· To carry out any other duties which may vary from time to time as may be reasonably required within the general level of responsibilities of the post.
