Children & Young People’s Domestic Abuse Support Workers

Children and young people’s services

This is a service for children and young people from 4 years up to 18 years (25 years for young people with additional needs or vulnerabilities that would make the teen service more appropriate than adult services) who are/have been living with domestic violence or abuse.

We also offer support to mothers to raise their awareness and understanding of their children’s experiences and impact of domestic abuse. We support mothers to rebuild and strengthen the relationship between themselves and their child(ren). We know that domestic abuse often damages the confidence of mothers and we support them to reclaim it.

We support children and young people through talking, listening, play, creative activities and group work.

We offer one to one sessions and/or work within a group, to enable children to discuss and explore issues surrounding domestic violence in a safe and friendly environment.

We enable children and young people to express and understand their feelings, build confidence and self-esteem and to build links within the local community.

Young people’s service / Teens service

This is a service for young people aged 13 – 18 years who are experiencing domestic abuse in their own relationship.

We offer safety planning, 1-1 support and group work to enable young people to make informed choices around their relationship, keep them safe, work through their feelings and the impact domestic abuse is having on their lives.

We offer specialist support and information on keeping safe for high risk 16 and 17 year old victims of intimate partner abuse including high risk safety interventions, MARAC referral and individual advocacy, court support, empowerment to make choices, referrals and access to local support services. https://nottswa.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/Referral-Form-Teens.docx
